WHAT IS YOUR CAR WORTH?
Sell your Honda or Honda lease in Los Angeles and Burbank
Honda and Acura are two of the most common leases on the road in LA, which is exactly why they're also two of the hardest to get rid of anywhere but a Honda lot. American Honda Finance restricts who can buy out one of its leases, so Carvana, CarMax, and most independent dealers either turn you away or lowball you. IMX buys Honda and Acura leases anyway, plus owned and financed Hondas outright, from our buying center in Burbank. A check the same day, no dealership runaround.
How do I sell my Honda in Burbank or LA?
- Get an estimate online, or call us with your VIN and mileage for a range.
- Bring the car to Burbank for a fifteen-minute inspection. If it's a lease, we pull your exact payoff from Honda Financial at the same time.
- Sign, and walk out with a check. Cash it or deposit it the same day.
If you're selling an owned or financed Honda rather than a lease, the process is the same minus the payoff step. See our full sell your car walkthrough for that path.
Have a VIN and mileage handy? We can give you a range before you drive over.
Call (818) 303-0800Can I sell my leased Honda?
Yes. American Honda Finance is one of the lenders that stopped honoring payoff requests from anyone but the lessee or a Honda franchise, a policy most captive lenders adopted once used values climbed past residuals a few years back. IMX completes the purchase through dealer channels Honda Financial still recognizes. We pay off the lender directly and hand you whatever equity is left. You never buy the car or touch the DMV. The same is true if your Acura lease runs through Ally Bank rather than Honda Financial, that lender restricts third-party buyouts as well, and we buy those leases too. For the full breakdown of how this works across every brand, including the California tax angle, see our lease buyout page.
How much is my Honda worth?
Equity is what we'll pay minus what you still owe. Civics, Accords, and CR-Vs tend to hold their value well, so if your lease was written two or three years ago, there's a decent chance the car is worth more today than the residual on paper. We don't ask you to guess. We pull the live payoff from your lender, appraise the car, and show you both numbers side by side. If there's no equity, we tell you that too, and you're free to walk away at no cost.
Do I owe California tax when I sell my Honda lease?
Not on the buyout amount, no. If you bought out the lease yourself to keep the car, California would charge use tax on the residual, roughly 7.75 to 10.25 percent depending on the county. Sell the lease to a dealer instead and that tax shifts to us under state law, since we're the ones taking ownership for resale. You skip it entirely. The full explanation, with the code sections, is on the lease buyout page.
Why sell your Honda to IMX?
We've bought, sold, and leased cars from one location in Burbank since 1988. No haggling, no pressure, the same offer whether you buy your next car from us or not. We serve Burbank, Glendale, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and the rest of the Valley, and a lot of our customers come back for their second or third car.
811 N Victory Blvd, Burbank. Most appraisals take fifteen minutes.
Get an offerHonda and Acura lease questions
- Does Honda Financial let me sell my leased Honda to a dealer other than a Honda dealer?
- Not on its own. American Honda Finance usually only gives a payoff quote to the person on the lease or a Honda franchise. IMX buys Honda and Acura leases through channels the lender still recognizes, so you can sell to us even though the restriction exists.
- What if my Acura lease is financed through Ally Bank instead?
- Same answer. Ally Bank also restricts third-party lease buyouts, and we buy those leases too. Tell us who holds the lease when you call and we'll pull the payoff.
- How fast do I get paid for my Honda?
- The same day. A short inspection confirms condition and mileage, we settle the lender balance if it's a lease, and you leave with a check that can be cashed or deposited.
- What do I need to bring?
- Your license, the car, and your lease account number or a recent statement if you're selling a lease. Both keysets if you have them.
- Is there a cost to get an appraisal?
- No. The estimate and the in-person inspection are both free, and you're under no obligation to sell.
